The rear structure (10) comprises lateral longitudinal beams (12) formed as a hollow profile. The longitudinal beams are formed in shell construction and each longitudinal beam comprises two shell elements (16) that are joined with each other to form the corresponding hollow profile. Each shell element comprises a length portion (22) made of aluminum or aluminum alloy and a subsequent another length portion (24) made of steel. The latter length portion connects towards the rear of the former length portion in the vehicle longitudinal direction.
