The method involves providing a spiral spring (1) with a spring axis (UA), where the spiral spring has an average height in a direction parallel to its spring axis. The spiral spring is made from silicon. A silicon oxide-upper surface coating is generated on a silicon-core of the spiral spring, where the upper surface coating has a thickness exceeded over the dimension that is necessary for minimizing the temperature dependence of the return constant of the spiral spring.
