The invention relates to a method for controlling a laminated composite material structure (10) following an impact (13), said structure having a first face, said front face (11), having undergone said impact and a second face, said rear face (12). The method comprises the steps of: - positioning an ultrasonic device (30) against the front face (11) of the structure, - transmitting an ultrasonic pulse into the structure, - detecting an echo profile representative of the structure, - activation of an information presentation means (411) when the echo profile comprises a pulse which is located between a pulse representative of the reflection by the front face (11) of the transmitted pulse and a pulse representative of the reflection by the rear face (12) of the transmitted pulse.
