The method involves exciting a ferromagnetic core (16), by a primary coil (10), according to a periodic exciting signal induces across two secondary coils (12, 14), to obtain two output signals, respectively, where an amplitude of each output signal is correlated to the position of the core. Each output signal is digitized to obtain a digitized signal, and an amplitude of a theoretical signal associated with the digitized signal is estimated to minimize an error between the digitized signal and the theoretical signal. The position of the core is estimated according to the estimated amplitudes. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for processing two output signals of an inductive displacement sensor (2) a measurement device.
