The method involves ordering a swing drive of a rotary drum with an instruction number of intermediate revolutions (Vi) of the drum for a preset length of time. The ordering of the swing drive is performed between ordering of maintenance of a stop (A) of the rotary drum and ordering of the swing drive of the rotary drum with an instruction number of revolutions of mixing of laundry (Vb), where the instruction number of the intermediate revolutions of the rotary drum is lower than the instruction number of revolutions of mixing of the laundry. An independent claim is also included for a washing machine.
