PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound and method for therapy of inflammatory and fibrotic diseases.SOLUTION: Disclosed are a compound and method for therapy of inflammatory diseases and fibrotic diseases, including a method of regulating stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) with an active compound, where the active compound exhibits low efficacy due to inhibition of p38MAPK; contacting is conducted at a SAPK regulate concentration which is a low percentage of inhibition concentration for inhibition of p38MAPK by the compound. Disclosed are also a derivative and analog of pirfenidone useful for regulating a stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) system.
