PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charge-transfer complex and the like, which have a two-dimensional crystal growth pattern, can form a homogeneous thin film easily, and can be expected to exhibit excellent semiconductor characteristics.SOLUTION: The charge-transfer complex comprises an electron-donating organic molecule (1-3) and an electron-accepting organic molecule (2). At least either of the electron-donating organic molecule (1-3) and the electron-accepting organic molecule (2) has one hydrocarbon-containing side chain selected from a hydrocarbon side chain, a hydrocarbon oxy side chain, and a hydrocarbon thio side chain which may be substituted with a halogen atom. When the charge-transfer complex is in a crystalline state, there are formed two-dimensional lamellar crystals constituted of a crystalline layer comprising a portion (1-2) corresponding to the electron-donating organic molecule (1-3) and the electron-accepting organic molecule excluding the hydrocarbon-containing side chain (3), and a group of hydrocarbon-containing side chains (3) which extend outward from the crystal layer. The electron-donating organic molecule (1-3) is a chalcogenophene derivative.
