PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sampling device capable of shortening purge mode time, a method for driving the same, and a method for detecting a gas component using the gas sampling device.SOLUTION: A gas sampling device X comprises a gas component separation unit 10 which separates a detected gas per gas component and a gas detection unit 30 which is disposed downstream of the gas component separation unit 10 and detects the concentration of a desired gas component. The gas sampling device X further includes a control unit 60 which controls a flow-down direction of an atmosphere gas flowing down inside the gas component separation unit 10 so that the flow-down direction differs in a non-detection mode which does not detect a gas component and a detection mode which detects a gas component.
