PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily transmit wide color gamut image data.SOLUTION: A transmission apparatus (source apparatus) transmits wide color gamut image data to a reception apparatus (sink apparatus) via a transmission path. At the time, the transmission apparatus (source apparatus) transmits, to the reception apparatus (sink apparatus), additive information of the wide color gamut image data and transmission system information of the additive information via the transmission path. For example, the transmission apparatus receives the transmission system information of the additive information of wide color gamut image data which the reception apparatus can cope with, and selects a predetermined transmission system from transmission systems which the reception apparatus can cope with.
