PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve startability and reduce rotary oscillation of an aerodynamic lift type vertical axis windmill (1) with a simple structure that can be manufactured at low cost.SOLUTION: The chord length of each of the aerofoils 3 of the aerodynamic lift type vertical axis windmill (1) equipped with a plurality of aerofoils with streamline cross-section gradually increases from the upper end towards the lower end, and the gravity center of each aerofoil 3 is positioned below the center in the vertical direction. Then, the chord length of each aerofoil 3 of the aerodynamic lift type vertical axis windmill (1) can gradually increase nonlinearly from the upper end towards the lower end.
