The present invention describes a hydrogenation catalyst based on palladium on a silicon oxide (SiO2), on an aluminium oxide (Al2O3), or on an aluminosilicate support, wherein the catalyst comprises an amount of palladium from 0.1 to 0.7% by weight with respect to the weight of the catalyst and an amount of silver 0.03 to 0.06% by weight with respect to the weight of the catalyst. The preferred support in an embodiment of the invention is a delta-aluminium oxide (delta-Al2O3) support. The catalyst may be used in manifold hydrogenation types, and preferably the catalyst is proposed to be used in the manufacture of hydrogen peroxide by the auto-oxidation process.
