in order to search for new antifungal drugs have been isolated from marine sources, a bio guided, a derivative of sphingosine, (z) - 2 - amino - docos-13-enyl - u00e8ne1,3,13,14 - tu00e9traol from the sponge haliclona viscosa harvested from atlantic coast of el jadida. the molecular structure of the compound was elucidated by spectral techniques, ir, uv, ms and nmr.the metabolite isolated showed significant antifungal activity in vitro against yeasts involved in human development and against phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria. the test in vivo activity against fusarium wilt of melon and vascular post harvest rot of citrus fruits showed that the haliscosamine is very effective in the fight against fusarium oxysporum f.sp.melonis and against penicillium digitatum. the test of toxicity to larvae of artemia salina was negative.
