The present invention describes the use of HDAC inhibitors, such as 2-substituted-isoindoline derived from amino acids for preventing the formation of rear capsular opacity and/or eye cataracts, specifically inhibitors of the HDAC for inhibiting TGF-ß and WNT/ß-Catenin. The effect of said inhibitors was evaluated in an animal cataract model (transgenic mice K14E6), were it was observed that the management of said inhibitors reduce the formation of cataract.
