The stainless steel 'C' Channel designed to lock the rear adjustable foot on all the Metal Shelving Bays to the floor to eliminate the shelving being pushed out of alignment when struck by a pallet jacks, heavy trolleys or building movement. The 'C' Channel is designed in section lengths of 300mm and 970mm with a combined length of 1270mm, the same as the width of a standard shelving bay. The 300mm length is designed to slide onto the rear adjustable foot of the shelving post with the 970mm length joining the 300mm sections in between the posts incorporating an 80mm joiner. The channel has been designed to allow retro fitting to existing installation by jacking the rear post up approximately 5mm to allow the 300mm 'C' Channel section to slide over the rear adjustable foot. The 'C' Channel is rolled from 2mm 304 stainless steel and will lift the rear foot by 2mm which will be adjusted down to offset the rise. The installation of the 'C' Channel will be carried out from the rear of the existing bays and will not require the shelves to be cleared as the 5mm lift of the rear foot should not destabilize the merchandise on display. When all the 300mm 'C' Channel sections are in place the 970mm joining sections will be added using the 80mm joiner which fits inside the 'C' Channel. The 'C' Channel is then fixed to the floor by the floor fixing brackets using a self tapping concrete screw through the grout gaps between tiles. Subject to installation and testing it may not be necessary to fix to the floor where there are up to 5 plus stock bays in one run because of the 'C' Channels rigidity that would stop a single bay or post deflecting from a pallet jack hit. The impact would be spread over all the interlocked bays by the rigid 'C' Channel, however a very heavy impact could move all the bays. The number of floor fixing brackets used will depend on the impact test where we have estimated the requirement to fit 1 x bracket for every 2 x bays and at the ends of each run. The 'C' Channel is made from 304 stainless steel which is food grade safe and ideally will not rust when subject to water, however, caustic cleaners and acid spills can cause 304 to deteriorate.
