The present invention provides a near-field source locating method, apparatus and system based on minimum description length, and relates to the technical field of signal source location systems in mobile services. The method comprises the steps: S1, performing covariance matrix characteristic decomposition on received signals to obtain a covariance matrix characteristic vector; S2, on the basis of a minimum description length criterion, pre-estimating the number of signal sources of the covariance matrix characteristic vector to obtain the pre-estimated number K of signal sources; S3, being executed synchronously with the step 1, and performing decomposition of two relevant matrix characteristics on the received signals to obtain two groups of relevant matrix characteristic vectors; S4, combining the number K of signal sources in the step 2 with the relevant matrix characteristic vectors in the step 3, so as to perform characteristic vector matching to solve phase information of the received signals; and S5, solving the phase information inversely to obtain a signal source direction. By means of the present invention, calculation complexity of near-filed source locating can be reduced, calculation efficiency is improved, data pre-processing efficiency can be fully exerted, and locating accuracy and stability are improved.
