In order to print identification marks (200, 200') in the exact target position on a value or security document (100), the invention relates to a printing forme device (700) for applying identification marks (200, 200') to a printing stock (105). Said device (700) comprises at least one numbering unit (800) which is arranged on a rotatable holding element (710) and the position of which on the rotatable holding element (710) is adjustable. According to the invention, (a) at least one identification mark (200, 200') is printed onto the printing stock (105); (b) the position of the at least one identification mark (200, 200') on the printing stock (105) is ascertained; (c) the ascertained position of the at least one identification mark (200, 200') is compared with a target position; and (d) the position of the at least one numbering unit (800) on the rotatable holding element (710) is adjusted.
