Provided in the present invention are a hotspot user discovery method and apparatus for same. The method comprises: acquire first data of a first user in social media, and second data of a second user in social media, the second user being interested in the first user, and/or being a user of interest to the first user; then, on the basis of the first data and the second data, establish a user model; then, acquire third data of a third user in social media, the third user and the first user being of no interest to each other; then, match the third data to the user model and acquire a matching resu finally, if the matching result is greater than a preset value, determine that the third user is a hotspot user of the first user. A suitable hotspot user is thereby recommended to the first user.
