According to the present invention, a method for determining the steering intention of a driver of a vehicle being automatically steered comprises: a variation detecting step of detecting the physical variation of a steering device per unit time; a comparing step of comparing the physical variation of the steering device with reference variation which may occur during automatic steering of the vehicle; and a steering mode switching step of switching into a manual steering mode when the physical variation of the steering device exceeds the reference variation. And, an apparatus for determining the steering intention of a driver of a vehicle includes: a sensing unit configured to detect the physical variation of a steering device per unit time; a calculation unit configured to compare a sensing result provided by the sensing unit with the preset reference variation of the steering device; and a driving mode control unit configured to control switching between an automatic driving mode and a manual driving mode of the vehicle depending on a comparison result provided by the operation unit.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
