The purpose of the present invention is to provide a negative electrode material for a sodium secondary battery with improved discharge capacity maintaining property and speed properties, and the sodium secondary battery comprising the same. According to the present invention, the negative electrode material has a negative electrode active material which is TiO_2 having anatase phase, and a carbon layer coated on a surface of the negative electrode active material. Accordingly, the present invention can stabilize a crystal structure of the negative electrode active material and improve conductivity. As a result, discharge capacity maintaining property and speed properties can be improved.
