One embodiment includes a system for receiving a text message from the transmitting entity WAP supporting 3GPP standards, the text message is 3GPP WAP format. The system determines that the receiving entity for the WAP supports a 3GPP2 standard text message, and converts the text message to a WAP format 3GPP2 from 3GPP format. Then, the system sends the WAP text messages in 3GPP2 format to the receiving entity.
