In a crankshaft, the narrow plan shoulders (9), which are located next to the crankpins (4) on the adjacent cheeks (3) of the crankshaft, by means of a turning tool (14) machined by turning. The fixedly clamped crankshaft rotates in this case about a rotational and clamping axis (22), in which also the centric longitudinal axis of the crankshaft is provided by the centric bearing journals (2). Consequently, the pin bearing journals (4) rotate with their geometric axis (6) on a circular path about the rotation and clamping axis (22). The rotary tool (14) is tracked in two mutually perpendicular directions of movement (32, 36) the moving crankpins (4) in height and side. This results in a constant engagement of the rotary tool (14) laterally in the flat shoulder (9) of the stroke bearing pin (4).
