A biogas plant (10) for producing biogas, comprising: at least one fermenter for anaerobic bacterial fermentation of biomass, and (a) a device for the mechanical pulping of straw comprising a device for mechanical grinding of straw by grinding, preferably grinding by means of a hammer mill, and (b) means for thermally digesting straw (82, 104, 122, 130) by saturated steaming or thermal pressure hydrolysis.
