PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a hard aluminum coating formed on the surface of a neodymium iron boron magnet and having excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, and to provide a magnet having the coating.SOLUTION: On the surface of a neodymium iron boron magnet, one layer of aluminum coating is formed by a vacuum aluminum plating method. The neodymium iron boron magnet after aluminum plating is used as an anode, and in the state where the neodymium iron boron magnet as the anode is put into electrolyte, anode oxidation is performed; and a hard aluminum oxide coating is further formed on the aluminum coating.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
