PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blend which provides carbohydrate very efficiently to an athlete while minimizing the risk of progress of problems of the digestive tract and enhances the oxidation rate of external carbohydrate during athletics.SOLUTION: A novel carbohydrate gel contains glucose and fructose in a range of the ratio of 3:1 to 1:1. The carbohydrate fraction of the gel contains dextrose and/or maltodextrin, and the gel contains less than 30 g of protein per 100 g gel and/or less than 1 g of fat per 100 g gel. The gel is effective in treating and preventing problems of the digestive tract while enhancing blood sugar maintenance and/or oxidation of external carbohydrate.
