PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the plastic fluidity of excavated soil in a chamber in a soil pressure shield method, capable of evaluating the plastic fluidity of excavated soil in the chamber in a direct and continuous manner with high accuracy, and a soil pressure shield excavator.SOLUTION: An evaluation method for evaluating the plastic fluidity of excavated soil in a chamber, applicable to a soil pressure shield method. A cylindrical rotor 16 coaxially provided inside of a fixed vane 14 is rotated at a predetermined revolution ω, and the torque T is measured. The shear velocity of the excavated soil is obtained based on the revolution ω, and the shear stress acting on the excavated soil is obtained based on measured torque T. Based on the relations of the shear velocity and the shear stress obtained, the plastic fluidity of excavated soil in a chamber 10 is evaluated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
