OPPORTUNISTIC DATA FORWARDING AND DYNAMIC RECONFIGURATION IN WIRELESS NETWORKS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide opportunistic data forwarding in a wireless local area network or radio access network, in communication between mobile communication devices and wireless network devices.SOLUTION: A supporting node S106 receives wireless communication between a transmitting node T102 and a receiving node R104 which comprise packet data units (PDUs). The receiving node R104 communicates to the transmitting node T102 that one or more portions of the communication were not received, which is overheard by the supporting node S106. The supporting node S106 can have sufficient over-the-air (OTA) allocation in a transmit opportunity of the supporting node S106 in order to relay to the receiving node R104 the portions that the receiving node R104 failed to receive, allowing more rapid adaptation to a continually changing channel state.
