ROOT REMOVAL APPARATUS OF ONION AND THE LIKE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a separated root separated from an onion and the like from entangling with brush parts of transfer rolls during the transfer of the onion and the like on both transfer rolls.SOLUTION: A root removal apparatus of an onion and the like comprises: a pair of transfer rolls 32 for transferring an onion T1 and the like with root backward in a posture in which a root Tc is suspended downward; and a root cutting apparatus 35 for cutting a root portion of the root Tc of the onion and the like with root at positions near the end parts of both transfer rolls 32. In each transfer roll 32, a brush part 32c, which extends the root Tc downward by coming into contact with the root Tc of the onion and the like with root, is provided on the outer periphery of each roll, and a scraper 7, which prevents a separated root of the onion and the like from entangling with each brush part 32c by coming into contact with each brush part 32c, is installed near the outer periphery of each transfer roll 32.
