PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make determination equivalent to discrimination by human visual observation on antibacterial effect of an antibacterial agent automatically, quantitatively and quickly by a simple and inexpensive constitution.SOLUTION: A disclosed antibacterial effect determination system 1 comprises a region determination part 1 and an effect determination part 2. The region determination part 1 extracts a local average image and a local dispersion image from an observation image, determines an effective region for determining antibacterial effect of an antibacterial agent and an ineffective region by Bayes estimation, on the basis of a first prior probability, the local average image and the local dispersion image, for each pixel of the observation image, and outputs a binary image. The effect determination part 2 performs blob analysis to the binary image to form a blob having the maximum area in which the effective regions are connected, obtains occupancy of the blob in the observation image and eccentricity of the blob, and determines the shape of the observation image in the effective region by Bayes estimation on the basis of a second prior probability, occupancy and eccentricity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
