PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an identification instrument for cytodiagnosis that can eliminate the occurrence of a sampling error by performing more accurate color tone identification of a specimen extracted with a puncture needle, a cytodiagnosis method using the identification instrument, and a cytodiagnosis kit.SOLUTION: An identification instrument for cytodiagnosis includes a box-shaped casing 20 with a placing part 21 for placing a clock plate 10, provided on a top plate 20u-5, and a background body 40 mounted to a bottom plate 20d-5 of the casing 20 below the clock plate 10 placed on the placing part 21. The identification instrument is capable of identifying properties of a tissue piece in a specimen ejected into the clock plate 10 with the background body 40 as a background, with the gradation of light and shade formed on the surface of the background body 40. A cytodiagnosis method is carried out using the identification instrument and applying a hemolytic agent to the specimen ejected into the clock plate 10. A cytodiagnosis kit includes the identification instrument and the hemolytic agent.
