PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a coated metal plate in which color fading is not caused even by impact such as friction from the outside and even by being left uncontrolled during a long period of time, and processability is excellent; and a coating material used for the coated metal plate, and to provide a production method of the coated metal plate in which the color fading is prevented.SOLUTION: A coating material for a coated metal plate includes: a polyester resin as a base resin; a crosslinking agent including a melamine resin and an isocyanate resin; an organic pigment; and an inorganic pigment. The polyester resin as the base resin is one containing a hydroxy group, a content of the melamine resin based on 100 pts.mass of the base resin is 2-18 pts.mass, and a ratio (NCO/OH) of an isocyanate group of the isocyanate resin to the hydroxy group of the base resin is 0.1-0.9. A surface coating film is formed on a metal plate by using the coating material for the coated metal plate to obtain the coated metal plate.
