A computer implemented system and method enables sellers to create and manage offers to sell products or services to group buyers for a discounted purchase price. The system and method also allows buyers to create buying groups independent of the sellers' offers for services or products. A buyer can register with the sale promoter and gain access to any number of offers to sell, the offers having discounted pricing, made by the seller. A typical offer to sell will have an expiration date, the quantity of items to be sold, and the price by which the items will be sold. By leveraging the power of group buying, the buyers can join a group formed by a seller or a buyer to receive a discounted price on an item. Further, buyers can rank one another thereby enabling or limiting access to certain groups to certain buyers.
