The present invention relates to an intraocular lens (IOL) for implantation into a capsular pouch that includes an optic and a plurality of haptics. The optic has an anterior optical face and a posterior optical face joined by a peripheral wall. the peripheral wall includes a straight portion of uniform width extending posteriorly from the anterior optical face to an enlargement point and an enlarged optical edge. the widened optical edge extends posteriorly and widens from the widening point and meets the posterior optical face in an acute optical corner. each haptic is coupled optically to the peripheral wall at respective haptic-optic junctions. the widened optical edge surrounds the peripheral wall between the haptic-optic junctions.
