摘要

This invention relates to the method for generation of Synthetic Runway symbol for the Head up Display (8) for enhanced navigation, approach and landing guidance to pilot of fighter aircraft (41). The Synthetic runway symbol (21) is generated using the flight leg coordinates available in mission plan database stored in Non-volatile memory of the flight management computer(2) and on board sensor data(1). During landing condition, the synthetic runway symbol is displayed along with Precision Approach Path Indicator symbol (22) indicating different valid range of glide slope angle to increase the effectiveness of instrument landing aids. In the absence of mission plan database, the synthetic runway symbol is generated by feeding ground coordinates through user input device (8). During Flight plan Navigation, the synthetic runway symbol is generated to provide the guidance to pilot to fly along the defined flight path and automatically generates the synthetic runway while switching from one flight leg to another flight leg.
