A method employed in the study of the effect of ultra-graphite on morphological and physico chemical properties of soil comprising of a method of preparation of a high purity expanded graphite powder comprising of; combining crude graphite with an intercalation agent concentrated sulphuric acid at a predetermined ratio respectively; mixing of a strong oxidizer nitric acid to the combination of crude graphite and the intercalation agent concentrated sulphuric acid; feeding the acid-intercalated graphite material into a gas burner having a predetermined temperature level to expand the crude graphite material into an intercalated expanded graphite material; subjecting the intercalated expanded graphite material to vacuum furnace with the introduction of an auxiliary gas of chlorine up to a predetermined time and to a predetermined temperature to obtain a high purity expanded graphite powder. Also, a method of mixing a variety of soil subjected to analysis along with the high purity expanded graphite powder comprising of; sieving a predetermined weight of the soil subjected to analysis in a sieve with predetermined opening size; subjecting the sieved soil subjected to analysis to air drying for a predetermined period of time; mixing the air dried sieved soil subjected to analysis along with a predetermined quantity of high purity expanded graphite powder and a predetermined quantity of cohex reagent and the said soil mixture being allowed to rest for a predetermined period of time to enable the said soil mixture to be utilised for further analysis.
