METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE USING DAILY COMBINED PH MONITORING OF ESOPHAGUS AND STOMACH

The method for diagnosing gastroesophageal reflux disease using daily combined pH monitoring of the esophagus and stomach consists in high-resolution pH-monitoring with discrete measurements of 50 Hz at the sites 5 cm above and below the lower esophageal sphincter (esophagus and stomach). The quantitative assessment of pH mismatches episodes in the esophagus and stomach is provided with paradoxically more acidic values in the esophagus. At least four inconsistence episodes within 24-hour combined monitoring are indicative of the gastroesophageal reflux disease.
