The present invention relates to a method of producing an antimicrobial composition for disinfecting water, characterized by the steps of removing seed coat and wings from Moringa oleifera seeds; grinding the Moringa oleifera seeds into powder; removing oil from the Moringa oleifera seed powder, thereby forming a Moringa oleifera cake residue; wherein the Moringa oleifera seed powder is mixed with hexane to extract oil from the Moringa oleifera seed powder; mixing the Moringa oleifera cake residue with salt solution to form a mixture; wherein the Moringa oleifera cake residue is in a range of 120 mg/L to 130 mg/L; wherein the mixing time is in a range of 60 to 65 minutes and the mixing rate is in a range of 100 rpm to 130 rpm; centrifuging, filtering and freeze drying the collected filtrate to produce the antimicrobial composition.
