One aspect of the utility model provides a computer-based system for publishing digital content items over a network-based environment. The system includes a server computer and a client computer in communication with one another over a communication network. The server computer includes a content publisher, a content manager, an image-tile loader, and a communication channel establisher. The content publisher is configured to publish through a scrollable user interface on the client computer the content items based on the geographical information associated with the content items and the client computer. The content manager is configured to categorize the content items and make the same searchable. The image-tile loader is configured to present the content items in an image-tile format. The communication channel establisher is configured to establish a communication channel through which communication sessions can be initiated to and from the client computer based on a communication protocol.
