The invention is a method for reflection time shift matching a first and asecond set of seismic reflection data (10,30) comprising first and second seismic reflection traces (1, 3) with seriesof generally corresponding seismic reflections (11, 31).The first and second sets of seismic data (10, 30) are acquired with aseparation in time extending over months or years. Thesecond set of seismic data (30) comprises at least one laterally extendingseries (40) of new seismic events (4) not present in the firstset of seismic data (10). Reflection time shifts (22) are calculated asrequired for matching seismic reflections (31) of the secondreflection traces (3) of the second seismic reflection date (11) of the firstreflection traces (1). The calculated time shifts arecon-ducted on said second reflection traces (3). The calculation of the timeshifts (22) are made by calculating coefficients of basisfunction estimates.
