A method for forming a multiple-quantization narrow beam within the width of a transmission-and-reception beam wherein an array-antenna-output-amplitude vector comprising the sum of the reception output for a received incoming signal wave and the reception system noise output of an array antenna is formed as a real array-antenna-output vector, the real array-antenna-output vector is used to generate an imaginary array-antenna-output-amplitude vector set so that the power of the incoming signal wave reception output and the average power of the reception system noise output are equivalent, a specific linear equation representing the causality of the generation is derived, a regular linear equation is derived from the specific linear equation through approximation, an incoming-signal-wave-amplitude vector is determined using the regular linear equation, and in the derivation of the specific linear equation, the imaginary array-antenna-output-amplitude vector is generated so as to include the amplitude of an incoming quantization-unit-angle narrow-beam wave arrived at by dividing the width of the incoming transmission-and-reception beam into each quantization unit angle.
