An authentication device and method combining finger vein recognition and facial vein recognition. The authentication device comprises a facial vein characteristic information collection device (3) and a finger vein characteristic information collection device (2). Collected finger vein characteristic information with angle and position information and collected facial vein characteristic information with facial position information are processed by means of a data standardization method, so as to form a characteristic information matching group comprising the shapes and the directions of finger veins and the shapes of facial vein characteristics, and then identity authentication is performed by using the matching group. The accuracy and the reliability of identity authentication in the security field are greatly improved.
