The present invention relates to a method for improving resistance to drought or salt stress of plants and, more specifically, to a method for improving resistance to drought or salt stress of plants by controlling expression of CaLEA1 protein. Transgenic plants (CaLEA1-OX), in which CaLEA1 is over-expressed according to the present invention, are found to be effective in improving sensitivity to abscisic acid and resistance to drought or salt stress, and are thus expected to be useful for improvement of crops available to all mankind.
