The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating cerebral ischemia, containing a cell-permeable phosphoprotein enriched in astrocytes 15 (PEA15) fusion protein. The PEA15 fusion protein penetrated into cells increases cell survival rate under the toxicity of hydrogen peroxide, while reducing the DNA fragmentation induced by hydrogen peroxide and the level of intracellular active oxygen species. In an animal model, the PEA15 fusion protein of the present invention has shown protective effects with respect to neuronal cell death taking place by induction of temporary ischemia on a region of hippocampal CA1 in the forebrain. Such results indicate that the PEA15 fusion protein has protective effects from the cell death and treating effects by protecting neural cells from the ischemia damage.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
