The present invention relates to a grid-based wireless personal area network (WPAN) protocol having energy efficiency for shipboard and indoor wireless networks. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the grid-based WPAN protocol includes: a pan coordinator (PC) for managing topology of an entire grid-based network, and allocating an address and a time slot to nodes participating in the network; a non-overlapping node (NN) for receiving a beacon message from two nodes of Level n among nodes of Level n+1, wherein n = 1; an overlapping node (ON) for receiving the beacon message from one node; and a leaf node (LN) for participating in an intermediate area of the grid-based network which has been formed already.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
