The present invention relates to a watchdog device, a watchdog security system, and a security method for a watchdog device. The watchdog device comprises: a vehicle one-time password generator for generating a one-time password; and a vehicle encryption unit for encrypting approval request data including the one-time password by randomly selecting one of a plurality of encryption methods; a vehicle decryption unit for decrypting the data which are encrypted by the encryption method randomly selected among the encryption methods and received from an external device in response to the one-time password; and a security control unit for transmitting the approval request data encrypted by the vehicle encryption unit to the external device to request access to the external device and controlling the authentication of access to the external device by using the data received from the external device. Therefore, the watchdog device of the present invention can prevent life and property damage caused by the hacked watchdog device unable to control an ECU by preventing the watchdog device from accessing the unauthenticated external device through the use of the one-time password, a multi-level encryption process, and a multi-level question and answer process when the watchdog device accesses the external device to update or correct software.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
