The present invention provides a method for coating a metal on the surface of a glass fiber, wherein the method comprises: a step 1 of coating a catechol polymer on the surface of a glass fiber through a polymerization reaction after putting the glass fiber in a solution containing a catechol monomer; and a step 2 of coating a metal on the surface of a catechol polymer layer through an electroless plating method after putting the glass fiber into a plating bath having pH 6 to 9, wherein the glass fiber coats the catechol polymer layer in the step 1. The method for coating a metal on the surface of a glass fiber according to the present invention evenly coats the metal by primarily coating the catechol polymer to a substrate to replace a catalyzing process using a noble metal catalyst such as palladium or platinum in a conventional electroless plating method, or a first plating process by nickel, and can evenly coat the metal on the surface of the glass fiber by controlling pH of the plating bath for the electroless plating method. In addition, production cost is reduced because of facilitating a manufacturing process.
