The present invention relates to uses of an Oryza sativa drought response WD domain 1 (OsDW1) gene derived from Oryza sativa as a regulator of yields and drought stress and, more specifically, to a method for increasing yields of a drought-resistant plant which comprises a step of overexpressing the OsDW1 gene by transforming a recombinant vector containing the Oryza sativa-derived OsDW1 gene into plant cells; to a method for producing the drought-resistant plant with increased yields using the recombinant vector containing the same gene; to the transgenic drought-resistant plant produced by the same method and seeds thereof; and to a composition for increasing yields of the plant containing the Oryza sativa-derived OsDW1 gene and having enhanced drought resistance. According to the present invention, the plant transformed with the Oryza sativa-derived OsDW1 gene is effective in enhancing drought resistance and increasing productivity compared with a wild type plant, thereby being effective in developing plants which can grow strongly even in drought resulting from lack of rainfall and dry condition, increasing production of crops, and being able to be useful in establishment of a platform for developing environmental stress-resistant crops.
