The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method of performing stochastic modeling of earthquake fault rupture which constructs a completed scenario of an earthquake fault rupture process using input models of 1-point and 2-point statistics for major earthquake source parameters with respect to earthquakes of magnitude 6.5-7.5. The apparatus to perform stochastic modeling of the earthquake fault rupture comprises: an earthquake fault rupture modeling parameter determination unit provided to determine parameters such as magnitudes of earthquakes, size of an earthquake fault, and a location of a starting point of the earthquake fault rupture for the modeling of earthquake fault rupture; a 1-point and 2-point statistics input model determination unit provided to determine input models of the 1-point and 2-point statistics with respect to three earthquake source parameters such as slip, rupture velocity, and peak slip velocity which are required for describing earthquake fault rupture process; a covariance matrix building unit provided to build a covariance matrix based on the 1-point and 2-point statistics input model determined in the 1-point and 2-point statistics input model determination unit; a stochastic modeling unit provided to assume a multivariate Gaussian distribution, performing stochastic modeling based on the covariance matrix built in the covariance matrix building unit; and a scenario earthquake model building unit provided to build the completed scenario earthquake model of the earthquake fault rupture process by substituting the slip velocity function with a two-dimensional distribution of the three earthquake source parameters on the earthquake fault plane, wherein the parameters for the input model of the 1-point and 2-point statistics determined in the 1-point and 2-point statistics input model determination unit are the input models for the 1-point and 2-point statistics of earthquakes of magnitude 6.5-7.5.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
