In a honeycomb block, in particular for the production of heat exchanger elements for flue gas cleaning systems of power plants, the honeycomb block comprises a body made of a plastic material integrally formed with a plurality of mutually parallel flow channels, which are separated by channel walls, to improve the mechanical properties and thus the practicality suggested that the plastic material comprises a plastic, the virgin polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in a proportion of about 80 wt .-% or more and optionally a non-PTFE high performance polymer in a proportion of about 20 wt .-% or contains less.
