A liquid detergent composition comprising fatty acid acyl isethionate surfactant product as the major surfactant component stabilized with high levels of polyols, said composition comprising: (a) 8 to 50% by weight fatty acid acyl isethionate surfactant product containing 10 to 50% by weight of fatty acids and / or fatty soaps and 35 to 85% by weight Fatty acid acyl isethionate surfactant product wherein the fatty acid acyl isethionate surfactant product constitutes at least 50% of the total fatty acid acyl isethionate surfactant product according to component (a) and cosurfactants of component (b) in the liquid composition, wherein the fatty acid acyl isethionate surfactant products by esterification of fatty acids or by reaction of fatty acid chlorides with a carbon chain length of C8 to C20 with isethionate; (b) 0 to 15% by weight of a cosurfactant selected from the group consisting of anionic, amphoteric and nonionic surfactants and mixtures thereof, wherein the amount of cosurfactant is 0 to 50% by weight of the total the fatty acid acyl isethionate surfactant product of component (a) and cosurfactant of component (b), and wherein said anionic surfactant does not include fatty acid acyl isethionate surfactants which are part of component (a); (c) 4 to 20% by weight of C8 to C20 fatty acids, C8 to C20 linear fatty acid soaps or mixtures thereof, including fatty acids and soaps, which are part of ingredient (a); and (d) 10 to 60% by weight of polyol selected from the group consisting of glycerine, sorbitol, and mixtures thereof, wherein the ratio of fatty acid acyl isethionate surfactant product of component (a) to cosurfactant of component (b) is in the range of 10 is 0 to 5 to 5; wherein the composition at room temperature surfactant and / or fatty acid crystals having dissolution temperatures between 30 ° C to 50 ° C; wherein the viscosity of the liquid detergent composition at 0.01 s-1 is at least 250 Pa.s at 25 ° C; wherein the ratio of the viscosity at 40 ° C to the viscosity at 25 ° C, when determined at 0.01 s-1, is at least 0.3; wherein the composition is physically stable at 45 ° C for at least 2 weeks and exhibits no separation that can be visually observed, and wherein the viscosity is determined according to the method specified in the specification for viscosity measurements.
