The invention relates to a method for cutting out a plurality of articles from a material web or from a portion of a material web by means of at least one cutting device. The positions in which the respective articles are to be cut out are determined and specified while making full use of the width and length of the material web. Every article to be cut out is associated with a cutting time. The time for arriving from one end point of the process for cutting an article to the starting point of the process for cutting another article is determined. The total time for cutting all articles is determined and is distributed over two cutting devices.
